Dr. Nguyen is the named inventor and co-inventor of over 100 patents in the United States, Canada, European Union, and other countries. He has also authored and co-authored over 58 publications in various peer reviewed scientific journals. Dr. Nguyen received his Ph.D. in Energy and Materials from L’Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) – Énergie, Matériaux et Télécommunications, and his Master of Science in Heterogeneous Catalysis and Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry from Concordia University. Dr. Nguyen was the recipient of the NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) Postgraduate Scholarship and the FCAR (Fonds pour la Formation de Chercheurs et l’Aide à la Recherche) Scholarship.

Among the awards presented to Dr. Nguyen are the Influential Business Person of the Year from the President of Vietnam, Nguyen Minh Triet and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Technological Advancement Silver Award from Dainippon Ink & Chemicals Inc. (Japan), the Invention Achievement Awardfrom Sun Chemicals (USA), and several Certificates of Merit from Vietnam’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Currently, Dr. Nguyen is Dean of the Applied Chemistry Department of TraVinh University (TVU). He founded the MLG-TVU Cooperative Education program in 2007, and teaches theory and practice to both students and the faculty.
